When you choose the Crosse House for your event, you're supporting our mission to preserve this treasured landmark for future generations while working with a community-focused organization that truly cares about your experience.

Event & Venue Details

  • The house seats 40 guests comfortably for dining events with tables and chairs. For cocktail-style or standing events, it can accommodate up to 65 guests.

  • We provide 15 square tables (34" each), 60 chairs, a vintage dining room table, and miscellaneous smaller accent tables. Colorful tablecloths and chair covers are available in various colors for a $3 cleaning fee per item used.

  • No, renters are responsible for setting up and taking down tables, chairs, and decorations. All necessary furniture is provided, but you'll need to arrange it for your event.

  • Yes, you may use our fully modernized kitchen facilities to prepare and serve food for your event. The kitchen is equipped for catering needs.

  • Yes, professional caterers are welcome. However, they must sign a separate Caterer Use & Conditions Contract that must be approved by an SPHS officer prior to your event.

  • Yes, the Crosse House is wheelchair accessible. Currently, guests are only allowed access to the first floor and veranda of the house. We ask that you please refrain from going upstairs during your visit.

Policies

  • Yes, alcoholic beverages are permitted on the premises. However, no sales of alcohol are allowed. If your event is open to the public, you'll need a liquor license and licensed bartender. The renter assumes full responsibility for appropriate consumption by guests.

  • You cannot tape, staple, nail, or glue anything to walls, ceilings, woodwork, or fixtures. Violation of this policy will result in forfeiture of your security deposit. All decorations must be removed after your event.

  • No, smoking is prohibited throughout the entire Crosse House property, including inside the building, on the porch, and in the yard. This includes vapes and THC/Detla 8 products.

  • No, the upstairs is unfinished and strictly off-limits to all guests. Entry to the upstairs area will result in forfeiture of your entire security deposit.

  • You are responsible for cleaning up after your event and removing all garbage from the premises. The Crosse House does not have city garbage pickup service, so all trash must be taken with you.

  • Your $200 security deposit is fully refundable if the house is left in the same condition as when you took responsibility for it. We'll inspect the property after your event, and any damages or excessive cleaning needs will be deducted from your deposit.

  • All unclaimed items will be removed after your rental period ends. We are not responsible for items left behind, so please do a thorough check before leaving.

Booking & Payment

  • Complete the Request a Date form on this page. We will reach out to confirm you date and ask you tomplete our rental agreement form and submit payment (rental fee + security deposit) to secure your date.

    You will mail your signed agreement and payment to: 133 W Main St, Sun Prairie, WI 53590. Make checks payable to SPHSI.

  • The rental fee is $200 per day, plus a $200 refundable security deposit. If you use our tablecloths or chair covers, there's a $2 cleaning fee per item deducted from your deposit. Total upfront cost: $400 (with $200 refunded after your event if the house is left in good condition).

  • We recommend booking as early as possible, especially for popular dates like weekends and holidays. Visit our events calendar to check availability and complete our form to request your preferred date.

  • Full refunds are provided for cancellations made at least 4 weeks prior to your event date. If the City of Sun Prairie declares a snow emergency on your event date, your deposit will be refunded and the event cancelled.

  • The rental fee ($200) and security deposit ($200) are due when you sign the rental agreement to secure your booking. Both can be paid with a single check.
